Traditional relational databases make trade-offs that are not appropriate to many kinds of applications. Many new databases are appearing to address these concerns. I’ll talk about the trade-offs of the CAP theorem and several of the most popular new options including:

• CouchDB
• Cassandra
• Riak
• Dynamo
