Ignite: what is it?

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

Ignite is a dozen speakers, each given 5 minutes to present a topic they’re interested in while 20 slides automatically rotate every 15 seconds.  Yes Ignite is fast paced.  This quick transfer of information is enough to let you, the audience, decide “do I want to hear more?”  If you do, follow up with the speaker, or look more into the topic online.  If not, well it was only 5 minutes.  Ignite can help you explore new topics, make new connections, and be fun at the same time.

How does it work?

First off people who would like to speak at Ignite submit a topic(a title and a brief description) The community votes on the topics, and the top ones get picked.  This is open to anyone.  What to speak at Ignite NM 4?  Submit your topic here.

The speakers that get chosen are notified, and the get their talks together.  Then we all come together on December 2nd to watch them present.

Past Ignites

Ignite encourages a wide range of topics.  We’ve seen everything from Curing Bacon to Electric Lowriders (and a lot more in between). See some of the previous Ignite talks here:

Your Job

This is a community event. The more people that join us the more interesting and diverse the topics will be.  Spread the word. Make it your job to tell someone else that they should check out Ignite NM.  And make sure that you are there on December 2nd.

Ignite NM 4 – in ABQ

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Your favorite 20 slides 15 second per slide presentations are back! Ignite is coming back to Albuquerque on December 2nd. We had a awesome event last time Ignite was in ABQ (thanks to everyone involved!) and I’m sure that this time it will be even better.

We did run out of seating last time(great turnout, thanks again!). But dont worry this time we are getting a bigger place. So make sure to tell your friends, family, co-workers, or anyone else to come to Ignite!

Ok. We are starting to look for speakers today: Submit your topic to Ignite here. – Ignite is a great chance to tell others about something that you are interested in. We dont limit the topics, except to say something that you are passionate about. Its a fun, fast format. Look at some past presentations to see what other have talk about at Ignite.

Well open up tickets sales (Free RSVP’s) next Monday.

Also, keep up with Ignite: we are now on Facebook & Twitter.
